Maps and charts projected by WX Charts, using Met Desk data, on January 15 (Wednesday) show Scotland battered from January 26, with flurries lasting into the following day as January 27 sees a blanket of the white stuff accumulating.

As much as 23cm is forecasting to be falling per hour in some parts, WX Charts maps suggest. And the snow depth chart could hit as high as 25cm in some areas north of Edinburgh, the latest predictions from the company – which is also used by Ventusky and Netweather TV – show.

Looking ahead to Thursday (January 16), it adds: “Windy with rain easing and turning brighter for northwest Scotland. Cloud in the southeast spreading into Wales and southwest England. Dry with sunny spells elsewhere after early fog clears.”
