The Government has issued a warning to Brits travelling to the US after wildfires forced 30,000 people to evacuate their homes. The fires are mostly affecting the affluent Los Angeles neighbourhood Pacific Palisades, home to many A-list celebrities.
Yesterday (Tuesday, January 7) roads became clogged as families fled their homes, forcing many to travel to safety on foot. Brits visiting Los Angeles have been advised by the UK Foreign Office to monitor local media and follow the advice of local authorities.
Any travellers in need of consular assistance are advised to visit Emergency help. The Los Angeles fire department has appealed for off-duty firefighters to help battle the flames. In some places, flames were being pushed by 60mph winds meaning its unsafe for firefighting aircraft to fly.

Several Hollywood stars have posted messages on social media to tell fans they are safe following the natural disaster. Guardians Of The Galaxy star Pratt, 45, encouraged people to “come together” and “support one another” amid the destruction.
He posted on Instagram: “Please send prayers and strength tonight to everyone in Los Angeles affected by these devastating fires. Los Angeles is in a state of emergency and over 30,000 have been ordered to evacuate.
“Thank you to the brave firefighters and first responders who are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife as they battle fast-moving wildfire fuelled by fierce winds. You are true heroes, and we are endlessly grateful for your sacrifice and courage.”
