UK set for 400-mile snow bomb next week which will hammer ‘whole’ of England

The UK faces a 400-mile wall of snow hitting the “whole of England” as far south as Brighton. Maps and charts, projected using WX Charts via Met Desk data, shows a fresh downturn in conditions across the country as we head further away from Christmas and towards February.

The end of January brings with it fresh risk of snowfall, as flurries of the white stuff threaten to accumulate across swathes of England, with everywhere from the south coast to the north of the country facing a dusting of snowfall moving forward.

January 29 will see southern and eastern areas of England hit by a band of snow. A “thick” band of snow is set to hit the North West of England first, before smashing into the North East too, and even stretching as far south as Brighton on the coast.

London, Manchester, and Birmingham face a covering – alongside Middlesbrough. In the short term, looking at Thursday (January 16), the Met Office forecast explains: “Remaining rather windy with occasional spells of light rain for the far northwest of Scotland. Cloud in the southeast spreading into Wales and southwest England.

“Dry with sunny spells elsewhere after early dense fog patches slowly clear through the morning. Rain in northwest Scotland edging slowly south. Cloud across southern England and Wales spreading north. Less fog than previous nights and generally a little milder too.”

Its Friday (January 17) outlook adds: “Rain across northern and western Scotland easing and turning brighter here. Remaining cloudy in southeast England. Elsewhere, cloudier than previous days and feeling a little cooler for most.”

And the outlook for Saturday to Monday explains: “Some rain and often windy in the northwest. Mostly cloudy central and southern England, and sometimes Wales, with hill fog and patchy drizzle. Occasionally brighter elsewhere. Mild north, colder south.”
