UK snow map shows exact chance of second January blizzard in your area

UK snow maps reveal how likely ANOTHER January blizzard is as the BBC speaks out. WX Charts maps and charts, which are projected using Met Desk data, show there are two days in particular where snow could batter the country.

January 20 and January 25 have been earmarked as dates where fresh flurries could hammer down on the country. The first is January 20, when the data suggests there is a 40 per cent to 50 per cent chance of more snow coming down in Scotland, north of the border.

The maps also show a 20 per cent to 25 per cent chance of snow in Northern Ireland, as well as a 10 per cent to 20 per cent chance in northern parts of England, Wales and the south-west of England, too, according to the predictions.

The second likely date for more snow is January 25, with WX Charts’ data pointing to a 50 per cent to 55 per cent chance in the Scottish Highlands. The risk is at around 20 per cent in Northern Ireland, Wales and northern parts of England.

In the short term, a BBC forecast spanning January 12 to January 20 explains: “Sharp frosts are still to be expected in some areas Saturday night, especially in eastern Scotland and eastern England. Likewise, spells of mist and fog are likely in the morning hours, potentially lasting all day. Some spells of rain, snow or drizzle could nudge in over the weekend for parts of the west, but conditions should remain mostly dry at first.

“Nevertheless, approaching low pressure systems with their fronts are likely to influence parts of Northern Ireland, Scotland and Northern England on Sunday, along with some spells of rain and increasing winds. At the same time, western areas will start to see temperatures pick up.

“Uncertainties linger through early next week. Although models still depict a high pressure dominated pattern, there are some differences in the global and local weather models.” The Beeb adds: “High pressure is dominating firstly, bringing more settled conditions in parts.”
