ITV will air the final season of its cosy crime drama Vera this week, in what will be a ‘poignant’ farewell to Brenda Blethyn’s character. The series, which has run for 14 seasons, will conclude with two episodes on New Year’s Day, with Vera hanging up her famous trench coat and hat.
Vera first broadcast in the UK in 2011, but ITV executives have confirmed this will be the final outing of the popular series. Brenda Blethyn will return as DCI Vera Stanhope, alongside the rest of the cast, as Vera revisits a ‘familiar’ place when a body is found at the foot of legendary local stones, The Dark Wives.
The final two episodes will “intertwine gripping murder mysteries with the heartfelt narrative of Vera’s personal journey,” ITV said. Here’s everything you need to know about Vera season 14.
