Vinted user who’s made £4 on app has five-step method to ensure items sell

If you’re aiming to tidy up your wardrobe and make a bit of extra cash, one top Vinted seller’s advice might be just what you need. With many of us possessing clothes that we no longer wear or fit into, the first thought is often to donate them, but using online platforms such as Vinted, Depop, or eBay can actually turn old outfits into pounds.

The problem comes when the clothes just don’t seem to attract buyers, often sitting on the site for ages without any takers. However, Chloe Chandler, who has banked more than £4,000 through her efforts on Vinted, took to TikTok with a viral video laying out her top five tips to ensure your clothes get snapped up.

Take good photos

First and foremost, she emphasises the importance of snapping eye-catching photos – Chloe points out that having high-quality images can really make a difference. In her visual guide, she advised ensuring that the background in the shots should be “aesthetically pleasing” and recommended clean white backdrops or hanging items on the back of a door, while advising against taking pictures of clothing laid on the floor.

Consistency is vital too, she added, urging sellers to maintain the same style of backdrop for all their items.

Do plenty of research

Further upping your selling game involves “doing your research”, Chloe insists. This means checking out comparable listings on the platform before you post an item, to make sure its price is competitive and reflective of its condition compared to others.

Use hashtags

Chloe is a strong advocate for the strategic use of hashtags. She explained: “The reason hashtags work is because people will search particular words. Those particular words that people search will come up as a result if you have put it as a hashtag, such as ‘Y2K’, ‘vintage’, any kind of brand, the type of item that you’re selling, all of those things will [make your item] come up as a search result when people search for them.”

Be friendly

She also emphasised the importance of good customer service, advising sellers to “Be nice to people”. Being friendly when dealing with enquiries about your items not only fosters good feedback and reviews but it’s crucial because prospective purchasers often scrutinise your past interactions.

Stay active

Furthermore, Chloe advises sellers to be consistent in their app usage, suggesting that being active on Vinted should be part of your daily routine. If you delay responding to questions about your products, potential buyers may lose interest.

Importantly, she suggests staggering the upload of new items if you have many to sell rather than doing it all at once – keeping your presence lively on the platform.

Her audience responded positively to the advice, especially those who had less success selling on Vinted in the past. One commenter said: “So that’s what’s missing from mine, thank you! ” Another added: “Brilliant tips, thank you so much. Very helpful.”

Meanwhile, another user commented: “I’m going to delete all my items and start again because I need to get rid of loads of clothes, thanks girl!”.
