Violent weekend across London after stabbings and shootings

This only includes incidents that Newsquest London is aware of and has reported on.

The crimes took place between January 11 and the early hours of January 13 in Homerton and Harringay.

The details of each incident have been confirmed by the Metropolitan Police. 

An investigation has been launched after three men were injured in separate incidents in Homerton on January 11. 

Officers from the met were called to Homerton station in Berger Road with reports of a shooting. 

At the scene, a 27-year-old man was found with injuries. 

Just a short distance away in Gascoyne Road, emergency services received reports of two other patients with injuries, aged 28 and 29.

The conditions of all three victims have not been described as life-threatening, and Homerton station has since reopened after being shut for twelve hours until 11am on January 12.

Investigating officers are exploring the possibility of a potential link between the two acts of violence. 

Supt Brigid Beehag-Fisher said: “This incident shows the casual disregard by some for the safety of our communities.

“Our investigation teams are working hard to understand the circumstances behind this incident and identify those responsible.

“Over the coming days there will be increased police presence in the area.”

There have been no arrests at this stage. Anyone with information or footage is asked to contact police on 101, quoting reference CAD6958/11JAN.

Under four miles away near Frogwell Close, police were called at 4.55am this morning (January 13) with reports of a stabbing in Tiverton Road. 

Emergency services filled the road in response to the incident (Image: Contributor) Officers attended with London Ambulance Service colleagues and a man was pronounced dead at the scene a short while later. 

A man aged 20 was arrested at the scene, whilst two other men aged 20 and 23 were arrested with a 23-year-old woman nearby, all on suspicion of murder.

The Met believe they know the victim’s identity and are conducting enquiries to inform his next of kin.

Det Chif Supt Caroline Haines said: “Local residents can expect to see more police in the area while we carry our enquiries and as part of extra patrols.

“We are also urging anyone who may have seen or heard anything related to this incident to contact us, you may have information vital to our investigation.”
