A man has recently conveyed the horror he felt after attempting a viral de-icing method that ended in disaster.
Jordan, known on TikTok as @jordan_the_stallion8, responded to a clip showing someone dousing their icy windscreen with boiling water by warning viewers of the technique. But how did Jordan come to understand the dangers?
He shared a regrettable tale where he witnessed that applying this hack will cause the windscreen to “shatter immediately,” adding: “I know that from personal experience because when I was younger, I was always so fascinated about how the windshield of the car would freeze overnight, so I thought ‘oh if I put hot water on the windshield, the ice will go away’.”

In testing his hypothesis, he targeted his neighbour’s pristine Mercedes, which stood out as “the nicest car in the neighbourhood”; it did not end well.
“I filled up my insulated hot water bottle with really hot water, I went across the street, I poured it on his windshield, and it shattered immediately,” he recounted.
Despite what should have been an obvious lesson, Jordan didn’t stop there. Convinced it was “just a coincidence,” he proceeded to pour hot water onto another window “of the same car”.
Predictably, this too resulted in breakage, yet Jordan remained incredulous, wondering “maybe it was two coincidences,” and decided to try a third window.
“It shattered, and I thought ‘maybe I’m the problem’,” he confessed, realising only then that the hot water was to blame, which led him to “panic and leave,” hoping his neighbour would remain clueless about his antics.
Regrettably, he left behind a water bottle marked ‘property of Jordan’ at the scene, clearly pointing to him as the responsible party. As a result of his huge blunder, he found himself having to “make monthly payments” to his neighbour, prompting him to share his “natural de-icer” concoction to prevent others from repeating his error.
He explained: “Just put cold water, isopropyl alcohol, and dish soap [together] and that will make a natural de-icer that has a lower freezing point than water,” rather than trying the hot water hack he did. “Spray it overnight, and it should help by making sure your windows do not freeze over.”
