Warning issued to BT, EE, O2, Sky, Three, Virgin Media, Vodafone customers

A warning has been issued to anyone who’s a BT, Three, EE, Vodafone or O2 customer ahead of big price hikes. From April, a variety of broadband and mobile phone providers are hiking up bills as the Cost of Living crisis continues after Christmas.

BT and EE says if you joined or renewed your contract on or after April 10, 2024, the price of your mobile bill will rise by £1.50 a month from March 31. BT said: “From April 2024, annual prices changes will be in pounds and pence, so you can have certainty when it comes to the cost of our products and services from year to year.

“Any planned increases will be set out in pounds and pence and will be applied each 31 March, starting in 2025. These will apply to new and existing customers who take out new contracts after 10 April 2024 and be clearly shown when customers sign up or renew their contract.”

TV customers will pay £2 a month more, and broadband customers will pay an extra £3 a month. For those who joined or renewed on or before April 9, 2024, your price will rise by 6.4%. BT said: “We know that your home relies on a brilliant connection. Whether it’s through your mobile or broadband service, it’s more important than ever to keep everyone and everything connected. Our annual price change helps us continue to invest to bring you a better, more reliable experience and the best value for your money. It’s also important as our own costs continue to increase, so the price change means we can continue to maintain the best networks and provide customer service in more ways than ever before.

“We’re dedicated to keeping our customers connected and committed to helping those who need it most and have frozen prices for customers across our BT Home Essentials, EE Mobile Basics, PAYG and BT Basic plans.” Meanwhile, O2 customers will see their airtime bill increase by £1.80 a month from April.

Sky Mobile users who are out of contract will see their bills rise by £1.50 a month from February 14, 2025. Your bill won’t go up if you’re still in contract. And Three bills will increase this April by between £1 and £1.50 a month, depending on when you joined the firm.

If you joined or renewed between November 1, 2022 and September 7, 2024, your bill will rise by 6.4%. If you joined or renewed between October 29, 2020 and October 31, 2022, your bill will rise by 4.5%.

Virgin broadband, landline or TV packages will rise by £3.50 a month from April. Vodafone customers who joined or upgraded on or after July 2, 2024 will see their broadband bill rise by £3 a month from April, while mobile phone customers will see their prices rise by either £1 a month or £1.80 a month, depending on their contract.

If you joined or upgraded on or before July 1, 2024, your bill will rise by 6.4%.
