Wayne Rooney denies claims he ‘let mystery woman into flat’ after viral video

Wayne Rooney has denied claims he let a woman into his flat after a video went viral on social media.

Rooney who released a statement on Instagram is currently living in Devon, away from his wife Coleen and children, while he manages Plymouth Argyle. The 39-year-old felt the need to respond after a video of him, wearing a baseball cap and tracksuit, apparently opening the door to his flat while accompanied by a woman was circulating online.

He wrote on Instagram: “I am aware of a video circulating online. The video shows a man and woman looking around my apartment. The couple kindly gave me a lift home and were in there at the same time as my son who was visiting.

“Footage is from last summer. It is annoying that at least one online newspaper has chosen to edit the footage to make it appear as though a woman entered the apartment on her own. That is simply not true.”

The video in question – which has been viewed over 2 million times appears to show Rooney opening his apartment door for a woman. He is then seen inside his spacious loft apartment with the television on, reports the Mirror.

Rooney is living in a large apartment in Plymouth while away from Coleen and his children, who have stayed living in the family home – a six-bedroom £20million mansion in Cheshire. He took the Argyle job in May and has endured a difficult time in Devon, having picked up just five wins from 25 matches so far.

The former player has four children with Coleen, who he married in June 2008, called Kai, Klay, Kit and Cass. While Rooney was managing his struggling side at Oxford on Sunday, Coleen was at Goodison Park watching Everton lose 2-0 to Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.

Coleen recently returned from Australia, where she was a competitor in I’m A Celebrity, where she finished second behind Danny Jones of McFly.
