Wayne Rooney to become ‘house husband’ as Coleen Rooney’s career takes off

Wayne Rooney is poised to become a “house husband” as his wife Coleen takes the spotlight.

The 39-year-old former England footballer recently left his position at Plymouth Argyle. The club announced they “mutually agreed to part ways” as they languished at the bottom of English football’s second tier.

Meanwhile, Coleen’s star is on the rise after she finished runner-up to McFly’s Danny Jones on I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! last month. The show is often viewed as a launchpad for celebrities’ commercial careers.

This success comes after a tumultuous few years for Coleen, marked by her High Court dispute with Rebekah Vardy. According to The Telegraph, her stint on I’m a Celeb has led to several high-profile broadcasting offers.

It’s reported that Coleen, 38, was paid £1.5 million to enter the jungle and is now at the centre of a bidding war, with broadcasters “desperate” to sign her up. An insider told Closer: “ITV are the frontrunners to get her for Loose Women and she would love to do it, but Netflix are now coming in with some big-money offers – we’re talking offers of well over £1 million,” reports the Mirror.

With Wayne Rooney poised to return to his family in Cheshire, he might find himself taking on the “house husband” role as his wife, Coleen, steps up to control, according to The Telegraph.

The paper suggests that a full-time career in punditry for Wayne is “unlikely”, citing his lack of “lacks the telegenic fluency” when compared to personalities like Gary Lineker.

Although Manchester United’s top scorer has courted managerial roles at Derby County, DC United in Major League Soccer, and Birmingham City, his future may still lie in media. Contrasting reports from The Sun hint at a potentially lucrative punditry opportunity for Wayne, implying a path similar to that of Jamie Carragher or former teammate Gary Neville, both now established figures on Sky Sports.

An insider reportedly praised him, saying: “Wayne is regarded as one of the best pundits in the business.”

They added: “He’s very, very knowledgeable about the game. And even though he’s actually quite a shy person, he really feels at home in a TV studio.”

The Mirror also touched upon the possibility of the Rooney family taking the spotlight in a reality TV show reminiscent of the Kardashians, featuring Wayne, Coleen, and their children Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass.

The idea has reportedly caught the attention of both Amazon and Disney, with a source revealing: “It was all set to be Disney’s and then Amazon appeared in the frame. That has sent the fee up. It looks now like the show will go to Disney, but there’s still time.”

They added: “Coleen’s time on I’m a Celeb has made her the nation’s sweetheart, even if she didn’t win. The British public can’t get enough of her. Her profile is bigger than ever and the fee for her family’s reality show will reflect that.”
