'We tried the new McDonald's menu and it's good news if you liked the Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets'

If you’re a McDonald’s fan, it might be time to plan your weekend treat. We sampled the latest menu additions, and one item left us wanting more – and it reminded us of a much-loved item that was on the menu back in 2021.

And don’t worry about the January budget blues. While many of us are stretching our finances over five weeks due to an early Christmas payday, these tasty treats are a good budget-friendly options if you really want to treat yourself and take a break from cooking.

We had the chance to try three new items: the Chicken Katsu One Wrap, the BBQ Ranch Stack and Mozzarella Dippers. These additions were launched on January 6.

Is the McDonald’s Katsu wrap good?

We loved this wrap and the sauce was delicious. You have a choice of crispy or grilled chicken, coated in katsu sauce, crispy onions, crunchy cucumber and fresh lettuce. The best thing? If you get it on a Wednesday, it costs just £1.99.

If you’re craving katsu and don’t have the time or ingredients to make it, it’s the next best thing. In fact, if you remember back in 2021, McDonald’s launched Katsu Curry Chicken McNuggets® which people loved and when it left the menu, people were upset. So safe to say you’ll be happy if you were one of those people.

Bonus new year points for those of us trying to be healthy, there is a grilled chicken option. Both the grilled and crispy chicken wraps are under 500 calories.

McDonald’s burgers – our verdict

We tried the new BBQ Ranch Stack. This burger has two 100 per cent beef patties, Emmental cheese, lettuce, bacon, crispy onions, creamy ranch and sweet BBQ sauce. Placed between a glazed sesame seed bun, it’s one to add to your takeaway order. If you love the McDonald’s Steakhouse Stack and Philly Cheese Stack, we don’t see any reason why you won’t like this.

McDonald’s Mozzarella Dippers – yay or nay?

Who doesn’t love mozzarella? These dippers were great and had a lot of flavour especially when dipped in the salsa it comes with. Available now until March 25, you can get it as a three-piece collection or nine-piece sharebox. We’d recommend the latter, they’re that more-ish.
