Weather maps show exact time 330-mile wall of snow will crash into Britain

A huge snow system is making its way to Britain – and is set to bring three days of weather chaos at the start of 2025. Heavy snowfall is set to hit large parts of the country from Saturday, with a Met Office yellow warning covering the whole of England and parts of Scotland.

Weather maps for Saturday night heading into Sunday morning show a wall of snow stretching over 300 miles from the Scottish borders down to Kent. The snow is set to arrive from Ireland, coming in over Wales from Saturday afternoon at around 3pm.

The weather system will then continue to make its way east into the Midlands and north of England into Saturday evening. A huge blanket of snow will then cover northern and central England heading into Sunday morning, with heavy rain for much of Wales and south west England.

The snow system will then head north up to Scotland into Sunday night and Monday morning. Snow should have cleared from most of England by Monday, though any snow that has settled could continue to cause disruption for millions heading back to the office after Christmas.

The Met Office forecast for the weekend says: “Possibly disruptive rain and snow arriving in the south on Saturday, moving north into central areas on Sunday where it will turn milder. Colder, drier with wintry showers on Monday.”

The weather agency added: “Heavy snow may cause some disruption over the weekend. There is a small chance that power cuts will occur and other services, such as mobile phone coverage, may be affected

“There is a chance of travel delays on roads with some stranded vehicles and passengers, along with delayed or cancelled rail and air travel.”
