Bromley boss Andy Woodman emphasised his hope that their January transfer business is not finished in the wake of a disappointing 1-0 loss to Colchester at Hayes Lane on Saturday.
The Ravens were stunned in the fourth minute of their first home game of the year as Owura Edwards slotted the only goal of the match into the bottom right corner.
Woodman was damning in his reaction to the performance, highlighting the need for certain players to step up if they want to maintain their place in the side.
“I think there’s one or two players reading their own press a little bit and getting a little bit ahead of themselves,” Woodman said. “You’ve got to put performances in every week, whether you’re a loan player, whether you’re my player, whatever player you are at this football club, you have to keep putting performances in every week.”
When asked about the club’s transfer plans for the rest of the window, he said: “We’re always looking [for transfers], it’s just not as easy as people think.
“We’re searching in a market that’s a tough market for us. We haven’t got the riches, and that’s no criticism of anyone here, but we’re restricted in what we can buy.
“Also everything’s a little inflated. Everyone wants a little more than they should be getting and I don’t want to just take a player because I think everyone else is taking a player.
“We’ve got more than enough at this football club at the moment but it would be nice to get a couple in, and I will be trying to get a couple in. But it won’t be a panic buy, it’s got to fit right for us. We’re going to keep going right until the window shuts.”
Woodman handed out two debuts against Colchester, including an off-the-bench appearance for winger Brooklyn Ilunga and a surprise start for forward Nicke Kabamba, who struggled to make an impact on the game.

“I don’t think we gave him particularly good service, we didn’t give him much to work with,” said the Bromley boss. “We didn’t put any crosses in the box in dangerous areas.
“We were pretty poor overall so it’s really difficult, when they’re huffed and puffed, but I think for them the service we gave him was below par.”
