A Windsor man has been arrested after a pedestrian in his 70s suffered life-threatening injuries in a crash. At 2.50pm on January 2 a HGV was manoeuvring at A1 Metal Recycling, off Highlands Avenue, Wokingham when it collided with the pensioner.
Some eight days later the victim is still fighting for his life in hospital. A 44-year-old man from Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving whilst over the specified drug limit. He has been released on bail.
Investigating officer PC Benjamin Taylor, of Thames Valley Police, said: “I am appealing to anyone who witnessed this incident to please come forward. If you have information, please call 101 or make an online report via our website quoting 43250002279.”
A force spokesperson added: “At around 2.50pm on Thursday January 2, an HGV transporting cars was manoeuvring at A1 Metal Recycling, off Highlands Avenue, and collided with a pedestrian.
“The pedestrian, a man in his seventies, sustained serious and potential life-changing injuries, requiring hospital treatment, where he remains. A 44-year-old man from Windsor has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and driving whilst over the specified drug limit. He has been released on bail.”
