A woman has been arrested on suspicion of attacking a police officer and possessing a weapon after a car stop in a Birmingham street. Erdington police officers spotted a car and stopped it in Drews Lane, Washwood Heath shortly after midday on Monday, December 30.
Officers approached the driver and asked him for his details, which they say he ‘did not want to give’. They then say his passenger ‘assaulted a police officer’.
The officer was not badly injured but a 54-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman were arrested and were being questioned.

The Erdington police team posted on X and said: “A vehicle caught Erdington officers attention today. Officers stopped the vehicle unfortunately the driver didn’t want to give his details.
“His female passenger got involved and assaulted an officer. Luckily nothing serious. Both are now in custody.”
A spokesman for West Midlands Police said: “A car was stopped in It was Drews Lane in Birmingham just before 12.30pm on Monday (December 30). A 54-year-old woman arrested on suspicion of assaulting an officer and possessing a bladed article. A 21-year-old man on suspicion of obstructing an officer.”
