Woman arrested on suspicion of murder after man found dead at house

A woman has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man was found dead at a house in Salford. Emergency services were called to a concern for welfare report at a property on Hope Hey Lane in Little Hulton at around 7.30am on Sunday (January 12).

The body of a man, aged in his 50s, was found at the scene. A post mortem has since revealed his injuries are thought to be ‘consistent with an assault’, Greater Manchester Police said.

Detectives launched a murder investigation and have now arrested a suspect – a woman aged in her 40s. She remains in custody to be questioned.

Anyone with information is being urged to contact Greater Manchester Police. There will be an increase in the presence of officers in the locality over the coming days, the force added.

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Higginson, from GMP’s Major Incident Team (MIT), said: “Sadly, following the discovery of a body at a property in Little Hulton, we have now launched a murder investigation, and we have a team of detectives working around the clock to understand the circumstances.

“We do not believe there to be a threat to the wider public, but you will likely see an increased presence of police in your area whilst we conduct further enquiries.

“If you have any information which may assist our investigation, or any dashcam, CCTV, or doorbell footage from the area in the last 24 hours, please get in touch with us. No matter how small the information may seem, it could be crucial to our investigation.”

Information can be shared by calling police on 101 quoting log 650 of 12/01/25 or using the LiveChat function online at www.gmp.police.uk. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
