Young child in critical condition after being hit by car in Tenby multi-storey

A young child is in a critical condition in hospital after a being hit by a vehicle in a multi-storey car park in Tenby. The incident happened on Thursday afternoon inside the car park on Upper Park Road, next door to Sainsbury’s in the town centre.

The collision involved a grey Nissan Qashqai. Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested on suspicion of a string of offences and remains in police custody on Friday. An appeal for witnesses has now been launched by Dyfed-Powys Police, who wish to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage from the car park at the time of what they describe to be a “tragic incident”.

A spokeswoman for the force said: “Dyfed-Powys Police is investigating a collision on the ground floor of the multi-storey car park in Tenby at around 4pm on Thursday, January 2. The collision involved a grey Nissan Qashqai and a young child. The child remains in a critical condition in hospital. Their family are being supported by specially trained officers.

“One man, aged 33, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury through dangerous driving, drink driving, and drug driving. He remains in police custody. This is a tragic incident and is a live investigation. We ask that you do not speculate the circumstances and allow our officers to carry out their enquiries. Anyone with information or dashcam footage that could help officers with their investigation is asked to report it to us, either online, by emailing 101@dyfed-powys.police.uk, or by calling 101.”
