Zara Tindall’s upbringing stood out amongst Royal Family youngsters as she was immersed in a tradition that played a major part in her life. Unlike other Royal kids, Zara and her brother Peter revelled in a unique advantage during their early years, as highlighted by Woman and Home.
Revealing details to ITV, Mark Phillips alongside his children Zara and Peter shared insights into the Festival of British Eventing at Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park residence. The esteemed equestrian event has been a highlight at Princess Anne’s abode from 1983, cementing its status among the UK’s premier horse-riding events for forty years.
While Peter and Zara have attended every festival since its inception, Zara has notably excelled in British equestrian circles, boasting wins like the Under 25 Championship at Bramham and bagging a silver at the 2002 European Young Riders Championship.

Succeeding the reins as director of the event, Peter Phillips reminisced: “I don’t remember a summer without the horse trials growing up.” Zara reflected on the importance of mingling with seasoned riders, noting it greatly benefited her equestrian journey. She remarked, “The top riders came and rode here. They were always walking the course.”
Zara Tindall expressed that receiving peculiar insights was a chance for her to chat about their strategy and soak up wisdom from the crème de la crème. She went on to say, “As a horse person, I always try to get involved in the chats that my father is having with them.”
